My professor found this picture in the Georgia Tech archives and I found it very interesting. It seems like a very old photograph but it could be an artist representation. Above the photo is a photo description titled "Georgia Institute of Technology College of Architecture MORGUE". Why is it called a morgue? Is the photo a piece of dead architecture? The picture is also labeled as an "August 1992 Project". For a picture that's only 16 years old it seems much older. Either that or I just haven't realized how much Tech has changed over those 16 years. In the picture, Tech is called the "Georgia School of Technology". I suppose it hasn't been classified as an institute at that point. This picture must be a photograph.....its incredible how much Tech has changed in just the past 16 years....its just a small representation of how this country has changed over the past 16 years....

Diatribe

People like this is why the average IQ of human beings is 100. That means half of the human population is classified as mentally retarded and are therefore not able to make logical decisions! Who cares what Obama looks like, who cares if he's African American or half or whatever. All that matters is his mind and his heart, not his face or his name. Get over the past, the present and the future is what’s important. The fact that people's voting decision changes because of Obama's name and race deeply disturbs me to the point of annihilating all possible hope for this pitiful race we call humanity. Close your eyes and think. It's not that hard. Use the gift God gave you, your brain, since the Holy Bible runs your life like a seeing-eye-dog does to a blind person anyway; or if you can't make your own damn decision then go to China where you don't have to.

Oh, and by the way, this article is hardly an accurate representation of the South. Yes, the south is dominantly republic but they're not stupid. These people are beyond stupid. Way the make the South look like shit New York Times…

Image Performance

This image performs a theme for Georgia Tech. Although Tech isn't necessarily a culture, it is a group of people with similar connections and experiences that can be found anywhere in the world! The audience is Tech students, more specifically, the students on the second floor of Folk residential hall (considering I found this poster on the bathroom wall of my dorm). The appeal is that Johnson will proudly lead Tech's football team to victory using "The Perfect Option." There are a couple of assumptions this image pursues. One assumption is that all Tech students follow football and that they all know what "The Perfect Options" is referring too. Another assumption is that students will recognize the main focus as Tech's football coach, Johnson. Believe it or not, there are some students who haven't the slightest clue who Johnson is or what "The Perfect Option" is.

Johnson stands tall and proud in the center of this poster making him the focal point. In the background, Tech's football team is faded and blurred as if they're actually moving in the photo. Also in the background are gray, gloomy clouds making Johnson seems like somewhat of a savior; the man that will stand tall and lead our Jackets through the worst of storms. The next thing the eyes go to is the "Georgia Tech; The Perfect Option" caption in bold, yellow font. The strong bold font captures the image of Johnson's (and Tech's) pride while the yellow is one of Tech's school colors. The last thing the eyes wander to is the football schedule saying "come watch Johnson exploit his Perfect Option and lead on our Jackets to victory on these dates!"

Response to Ignorance

Nina's Ingnorance blog is a prime example of our society today. I agree with Nina in that our generation seems oblivious to their culture simply because of our ignorance and I also agree that this should change! As a mut of an American, I am mostly European (German, Italian, Irish, and Check to be exact). Only recently have I became interested in my family history and the blood that runs through my veins. Though the culture that comes with it so vague from my muddy bloodline, my full German grandmom and full Irish grandpop are extremely knowledgeable of their cultures and traditions. I've lived with my Oma (German for grandmom) for some time when I was young and I hold only a few of those traditions such as Nickolausabend, Oktoberfest, and the little German bored games like Mensch Argere Dich Nicht. However, I would love to learn more of not only my German culture but of Irish, Italian, and Check as well! Learning and living our culture is a simple way to eliminate that omnipresent fear of a homogeneous society, so why is our generation so ignorant? I'm not sure....ask them....
